Frequently asked questions

What does Recon actually do?+

It matches your Stripe payouts and charges against your bank statement automatically, so you don't have to do it line-by-line in a spreadsheet. Run a reconciliation and it sorts everything into matched vs. flagged.

How do I get started?+

Go to Upload Data and either sync Stripe or import a bank statement CSV, then open Reconciliation Reports and run a match. Most people are done with their first pass in about 5 minutes.

What format does my bank CSV need to be in?+

Any CSV with a date column, an amount column, and ideally a description column — header names are matched flexibly, so "Transaction Date", "Posted Date", "Amount ($)", or "Memo" all work. Max file size is 5MB, up to 10,000 rows.

What do "flagged" items mean?+

A flag means something didn't line up cleanly: an amount mismatch (same transaction, different amount), a timing gap (dates don't match yet), or no match at all on one side. Matched items need no action.

Do I have to upload a CSV every time, or can I connect my accounting software?+

You can connect Xero or QuickBooks Online under Integrations — a two-minute OAuth connection — and your ledger transactions will sync in automatically instead of needing a fresh CSV export each time.

What's the difference between the free tier and a paid plan?+

The free tier lets you explore the app; running reconciliations requires an active subscription. Starter ($49/mo) and Growth ($99/mo) both unlock full reconciliation access, with Growth built for more accounts and higher transaction volume.

How do I change or cancel my subscription?+

Go to Billing in the dashboard and use "Manage subscription" — that opens Stripe's billing portal, where you can change plans, update your card, or cancel.

Is my financial data secure?+

Yes. Every table is scoped to your account with row-level security, so you can only ever see your own transactions, and OAuth tokens for connected accounting software are encrypted before they're stored.

I'm getting onboarding emails I don't want — how do I stop them?+

Every onboarding email has an "Unsubscribe" link in the footer. One click and you're out of that sequence — you'll still get essential account and billing emails.
